The name of this Chardonnay translates to “aroma of wood” and while that is there, other things create a more layered wine than one would expect from its name. Spending a mere 6 months in all new oak it develops a multitude of flavours (and aromas) vanilla, butter, peach cobbler, apple and even some butterscotch, you can also find hints of spice, great acid punch and some typical County minerality which acts as counter-balance to that rich mouthfeel.  Price: $34.95 – Rating: ****
