The name hints at a very oaky style of Chardonnay and while there were definite “toasty” notes the method of winemaking suggests anything but an overly oaky/buttery Chardonnay: six months in stainless steel barrels with oak staves introduced. It is a touch on the buttery side with good acidity plus apple, apricot and peach fruit. At under-$15 USD this is pretty good Chardonnay for the money. Rating: *** ½+
