Another low intervention wine from Hinterland – this time it’s with County fruit from the Ramirez vineyard … the juice took about 8-9 months to ferment with no addition to the wine then it sat on its lees the entire time and rested in five 225L French barrels (used barrels from California, water bent Orion barrels that were then toasted). This is a gorgeous Chardonnay with plenty to get excited about: apple, pear, subtle lime, good acidity and complex mineral-flintiness – there’s also a lovely creaminess to that mid-palate. Only 125 cases produced so snap up all you can before it’s gone. Price: $40.00 - Rating: ****+
