Athene is a Cabernet Sauvignon (43%), Syrah (57%) blend sourced from a single vineyard in the Black Sage bench ... It spends 18 months in a mix of French (66%), American (30%) and Hungarian (4%) oak - 25% of which was new and 10% one year old. Then it was bottled unfiltered to give it further age-ability and longevity. Mocha, black cherry and smokey notes with some blackberry and lots of black pepper. On the finish it dials things up a notch adding red currants, cinnamon and subtle coffee bean notes into the mix. Another delicious bottle of Athene - drink 2022 to 2032.  Rating: ****+
