iCellars has made some excellent, exciting and noteworthy Cabernet Sauvignon in their young history, blessed with years like 2015, 2016 and 2017 that's no wonder. But along comes 2018 and it's a slightly different story for this notoriously difficult grape in Ontario. Look, this is still a good wine - aged 24 months (25% new) in oak - but the vintage was not kind to Cabernet with its overly wet harvest period. Fruit forward with lots of dark fruit: blackberry and cassis, good intensity and concentration, but this one is more drink now than a cellar dweller with its silky tannins on the finish – and age-worthiness is what you expect most from these iCellars wines this one’s ready to go.
