(February 2024) … Podere della Bruciata started its journey as a farm in 1956, moving to winery status in 1998, specializing in "natural wines". They are a small winery, the most they produce of any one wine is 5000 bottles. The farm is 8 hectares, five in production with another 3 on the way. They make a total of 10 labels, or 30,000 bottles - all considered “Cru” wines. The farm is currently in its 3rd generation of family ownership.
The Wines …
Podere della Bruciata 2019 Tizzo IGT
- Pugnitello -
Made from an indigenous grape variety that is quite possibly the father of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo; the wine spends 18 months in large barrels: pretty cherry with good tannins. (*** ½+)
Podere della Bruciata 2021 Vino Nobile di Montepulcino - Cesiro
- Sangiovese -
This is a less than a hectare single vineyard Sangiovese ... Gentle and fruity, the wine is subtle and elegant, with plenty of cherry notes. (****)
Podere della Bruciata 2019 Nonostante Tutto (despite everything)
- Petit Verdot -
Considered a Super Tuscan: Cassis and blackberry with gentle herbs and a spice component. (****)
Podere della Bruciata 2022 Rosso di Montepulciano - Ermete
- Sangiovese / Colorino / Canaiolo -
A single vineyard field blend taken from 3/4 hectare ... juicy and pleasant with cherry and subtle spices; there's even a note of minerality on the finish. (****+)
Podere della Bruciata 2021 Barcaiolo - Chianti Colli Senesi
- Sangiovese-
A rustic style of wine with good acidity and nice tannins. (*** ½)
