From the Cellar

Podcasting Night (Ontario / BC / Spain)

03 Dec 2017

(August 11, 2016) ... It's another podcast night for Two Guys Talking Wine and three bottles hit the table ... Starting with a Vineland 2012 Circle of Friends Heat Sink Gamay, I had no idea Brian Schmidt was on the Gamay bandwagon but I'm sure glad he is. He sent me this wine a few years ago, it was a wine club only wine and he wanted to get my opinion on his Gamay (he knows I'm a fan of the grape) ... This hot vintage Podcast Night Winesversion was still more black fruit than red but quite well balanced and a sheer delight to drink and especially with the hint of chill the wine fridge provided.

Next up an Okanagan Vineyard 2003 Cabernet Merlot, this was the precursor for Inniskillin Wines British Columbia operation, and sadly it is a train wreck  piece of shit: it's oxidized and so much more that defies description here ... I can't dump this wine down the sink fast enough.

Finally I opened a Castillo de Monseran 2007 Garnacha (Carinena) from Spain, it's a tad earthy but with a touch of red fruit and spice on the back end, it's still well-balanced with acidity helping to keep it fresh (enough) for its age; definitely worth drinking.
