(June 23, 2020) ... As a fan of Masi wines I was really looking forward to opening this one, and I was not disappointed. At twelve years of age the wine has a beautiful nose and flavour profile: mocha, black cherry, plum, smoked-cherry all show up, while leathery and smoky notes also appear, but they do add a complexity to the wine that aids in its balance. There is 15% alcohol here so there is an alcohol-inspired sweetness factor here, but also a touch of pepper, some bittersweet chocolate and red licorice find their way into the mix the longer the wine sits open.
