Taste it Again: Coyote's Run 2009 Red Paw Pinot Noir

10 Dec 2016

(April 28, 2010) ... I was invited out to lunch with a friend who told me that if I brought the wine he would pay for my lunch - sounded like a good deal to me. Knowing he was paying I felt obligated to bring something he might enjoy, and knowing him to be a great fan of Pinot Noir I thought this blast from Coyote's Run's past might be inspiring. To me, Red Paw Pinots have always been the more feminine of the Coyote Pinot-clan and are usually approachable early in their life cycle, so I too was intrigued by how seven years would affect it. Right from the get go the wine had a Chanel No 5 aspect to it, with lots of foral/violet notes along with hints of cranberry - we both decided it was quite pretty. Palate was not as enthralling, the fruit has dropped out and the wine seemed rather thin but with good acidity and some violet to the finish. Time to drink up.
