Taste it Again: Array of Chardonnay 2010-2013

27 Dec 2018

(July 30, 2017) ... I have no doubt, as I am writing this, that when we have our Chardonnay-loving friend Sue over, and she and my wife get onto their Chardonnay-kick and those wines flow I am just there to document it:

Coyote's Run 2010 Red Paw Chardonnay ... Pineapple, vanilla, golden delicious, pear, almond praline ... Great acid backing and hints of caramel green-apple. Stunning at 7 years of age. (NB: a year and a half later this wine is not as good - note to come). see original review here

16 Mile 2011 Civility Chardonnay ... Another winner, and one year younger: plenty of apricot, peach, and even some caramel and smoked-apple, which sounds odd but really adds an extra layer to the wine. see original review here

Cave Spring 2012 Dolomite Chardonnay ... Stepping up another year and the fruit becomes more vibrant with notes of peach, delicious apple, and sweet vanilla-caramel; this one is rich and full bodied in the mouth with an almost creamy-like texture - if it was the for the great acidity still backing it up this would be a California nightmare. see original review here

Lailey 2013 CuriosiThree Old Vines Chardonnay ... The curiosity line was always something fun and this old vines version has a ton of apple juice orientation on both the nose and palate ... It didn't developed much else but I have a feeling it's just in a funny phase.  no original review
